I is not robot...

I'm sure there is a book / tv show about this post.  I don't know it, nor know of it, but surely it's not all that original.

Your day:
You wake up and check your status report.  The status report says that you've acquired 12 more contracts from 4 different companies (3 each) for an 8 week period.  You then take a shower.  You lounge around.  You're fairly happy as you've just won another 8 weeks worth of money which equals about $30k.  You're looking forward to the time you can spend away from home.

You don't work (in the normal sense) because:
You've just sold 12 robots to 4 companies for labor that a normal person would normally be able to accomplish.  Technology has progressed far enough so that you can program a robot to do what you would normally do.  Of course being the anti-social nature of robots right now, you charge less (considerably) than what you would charge.  Governments have agreed that robot labor should not be charged out on an equal human rate.  You could still go and work if you wanted to work.  You don't work because you have enough money to buy 12 robots, or perhaps you were given these robots by a family/ friend (great friend).  more importantly you don't work because you don't have to, and you want to do something other than be stuck at work.

The cotton industry right now (2012) is almost 100% automated.  The only thing people have to do directly in this industry is mostly maintenance.  The reason that the cotton industry isn't 100% automated is due to our own limits in other industries eg: transport, logistics etc.  Big companies supply the machines, and people look after them.  There will come a time in the very short future where machines will start fixing machines _without_ human interaction.  Your name will be known through contacts, just like certain industries where that phenomenon already exists.  you aren't all that good, you're just lucky to own some functional "human" equivalent robotic "humans".

The singularity is coming:
It may not be a commonly known goal, but humans are working towards a goal of having computers out think themselves because they're efficient (or lazy depending on your viewpoint).  The singularity is defined here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity
